Mon-mon-mon

STORY

The main character, a monkey Mon-mon gets arrested into a jail for punishment of ‘beans theft.’
The jail director Goto hates Mon-mon (because he is annoying) and tries to tease Mon-mon, so he tries to harass Mon-mon with several different ways.
Nevertheless Mon-mon puts off Goto’s plot by accompanying other monkeys in the jail with Mon-mon’s strong centripetal force resulted from his innocence and naturalness.
Although the jail becomes dreamland after defeating Goto, Mon-mon sets out for ‘Beans’ facing bean deficit.
He then joins the championship of ‘the strongest monkey’ to get beans and the award.
Then, Mon-mon pursues his mom and dad who’ve got separated from him when his hometown ‘Saruyama’ gets attacked by humans, and he tends to return to the town.
The story goes on like this way.

COMMENT by Shun

This is a gag cartoon written by Tsunomaru, who is the best writer of animal cartoons (I think…)
Centering on Mon-mon’s family, the story of funny animals (they act just like humans) that contains both warm and surrealistic parts.
Simply, it’s fun.
The gags are not actually so funny, but Mon-mon’s lovely character makes you laugh for sure.
My favorite part is the way Mon-mon acts when he questions.
Even though he is the one who’s questioning, he has no interest to the answers he receives.
What a bustard.
This pattern appears often, and I think no other character can do like this than this natural and idiotic monkey does.
Not only such gags but also the heart-warming part that Mon-mon think of his family so strongly moves me when I read this cartoon.
I think this allures you also.
